Province police requested assistance from Bear Island Police who successfully located the vessel.

OPP Const. Siobhan Christo confirmed to CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email Sunday that the initial distress call came in just before 6 p.m. on June 13.

“The vessel struck a shoal which caused it to sink,” said Christo.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

“The three occupants were in the water when police arrived, but they were safely brought aboard the police vessel and transported to land,” said OPP in a social media post.

“All occupants were wearing their life jackets,” added police.

Life jackets save lives.
