Parry Sound residents charged after police find drugs, cash

A pair from Parry Sound, Ont., are facing multiple charges after provincial police with a drug warrant raided a Park Lane residence last week.

In a joint Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) operation, the North East Region Community Street Crimes Unit and the West Parry Sound Detachment executed the warrant on June 12.

“A search of the residence, officers seized over $1,000 in Canadian currency and a quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine and fentanyl,” said police in a news release.

OPP estimated the street value of the suspected drugs seized at $23,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old local man and a 27-year-old local woman have both been charged with two counts of drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with a probation order.

Both accused were held pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
