SUDBURY -- A 67-year-old man from northern Ontario is $100,000 richer after winning lottery.

James Braund of Corbeil, east of North Bay, matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the April 14 Lotto Max draw.

He says he plays the same numbers regularly.

"I was at the gas station where I purchase my tickets and the terminal froze when the retailer scanned my ticket," said Braund. "When I realized I won $100,000, I was so excited."

The retired public servant plans to take his children and grandchildren on a family vacation with his winnings and his wife did some shopping in Toronto when they went down to pick up their prize.

Encore is an add-on that can be played with most other lottery games for an extra $1 and there is a draw every day.

The winning ticket was purchased at MacEwan on Highway 94 in Corbeil.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, major prize winners of $50,000 or more are allowed to pick up their winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto by appointment only.
