A joint operation between Ontario Provincial Police and Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service to reduce impaired driving was being conducted on Highway 6 when it happened.

The vehicle was stopped shortly before 2 a.m. on May 16 for a traffic violation, OPP said in a news release.

"After further investigation, it was revealed that two of the passengers in the vehicle were on conditions not to be around each other. These passengers were subsequently arrested."

When officers searched the vehicle, they found 63 grams of suspected fentanyl and 83 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with around $10,000 in cash.

As a result, an Ajax man is charged with two counts of drug trafficking while a woman from Toronto is charged with obstructing a peace officer.

They are both charged with failing to properly wear a seat belt as a passenger, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with an undertaking.

They were held in custody and were scheduled to appear in bail court Thursday.
