Funeral arrangements are now set for Gérald and Sharlene Levasseur of Sudbury, who died tragically in the crash of a small float plane on Sunday, July 8th near Verner.

Both were popular members of the local flying community, and spent plenty of time involved in the cadet movement in Sudbury.

Sharlene served nine years in the Canadian Armed Forces as an officer with 200 Wolf Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron attaining the rank of Lieutenant. In particular, she loved supporting the aviation program as well as coaching cadets in biathlon and range competitions. The squadron and the youth became an extended part of her family, to whom she was dedicated and would do anything to support them as they developed into young adults.

Gerry served fifteen years in the Canadian Armed Forces as an officer with 200 Wolf Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, including as the Commanding Officer, attaining the rank of Captain. He shared with the youth his passion for aviation and range and dedicated his time to ensuring cadets had the opportunity to experience the thrill of flight. He also coached the biathlon team inspiring the youth to try something new as a team.

A celebration of life will be held for the couple this Friday, July 20th at 4 pm at Greater Sudbury Airport 5900 Air Terminal Drive, with flying club and military participation.
