Masked suspect in northern Ont. tries to steal from police officer’s garage

An off-duty Ontario Provincial Police officer in Cochrane arrested a masked individual trying to enter the officer’s garage earlier this month.

The incident took place May 10 around 8 p.m. James Bay OPP arrived and completed the arrest.

“During a search found break-in tools on the suspect,” police said in a post on social media.

The 30-year-old suspect from Cochrane has been charged with break and enter, failing to comply with probation, possession of break-in tools and disguise with intent.

The suspect remains in custody.

“Always lock your doors of your residence and vehicles to deter would-be criminals an easy opportunity to take your belongings,” police said.
