“After a lengthy foot pursuit, the driver was eventually arrested in the area of Ninth Avenue.”

Police said the pursuing officer made observations about the man’s sobriety.

“The driver was taken into custody for the purposes of completing Intoxilyzer breath testing procedures at the police station,” said police.

As a result of the incident, the 25-year-old male driver from Porcupine is facing a total of nine charges including two impaired driving offences, failing to remain at the collision scene, escaping from lawful custody and four assault-related charges connected to his apprehension.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 31.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
