Ontario Provincial Police have closed parts of two highways due to washouts caused by flooding.

The first is a 30 kilometre stretch of Highway 535 between St. Charles and Noelville, southwest of Sudbury, in the French River area.

Officials with the Municipality of St. Charles say the washout is a result of a beaver dam that burst and that has also affected the bridge in West Arm.

Police have put up signage at the highway turnoff in Hagar, the Highway 69 turnoff, and Highway 64 intersection to warn drivers.

Ministry of Transportation is on the scene and repairs are underway.

The second washout in northern Ontario that has created a road closure is located on Highway 651 about 34 kms north of Highway 101.

Police say there are currently no detours and the reopening time is unknown at this point.
