Update:

Officials with the West Nipissing Fire Department say that the Ontario Fire Marshal's office will not be attending the scene of the fire in Sturgeon Falls.

They say that they will continue their own investigation in collaboration with Ontario Provincial Police, who say the fire is not deemed suspicious.

Original:

Fire crews from West Nipissing have been busy after a blaze broke out early Friday morning at a commercial building on Salter Street in Sturgeon Falls.

West Nipissing Fire Chief Richard Maranda says the call came in just after 2 am on Friday from a neighbour that heard a sound and then saw smoke coming from the building.

It took 14 firefighters and four fire trucks to put out the blaze.

Chief Maranda says there were many hotspots due to the combustible materials inside the drape and blind business.

He also says that no one was inside the building at the time that fire began and no injuries were reported.

Maranda says the building is a total loss.

The local fire department is holding the scene while the Ontario Fire Marshal decides whether or not to send an investigator and OPP are taking statements.

No cause has been determined.
