SUDBURY -- A large group gathered in Sudbury on Thursday for the second part of a seniors' summit.

The event followed the city’s first seniors’ summit held late last month, where issues that mattered most to seniors were discussed.

Organizers of Thursday’s event say the feedback gathered largely falls in line with the eight Age-friendly strategy pillars laid out by the city's Seniors Advisory Panel.

Barb Nott is the co-chair for Sudbury's Seniors Advisory Panel.

"The first time we had it, in October, we had over 400 people here because they wanted to tell us what their concerns are. And they are back again this time because we’ve compiled that information and now they want to help us develop moving forward," said Nott.

Liberal Nickel Belt MP Marc Serré says the findings from Sudbury will be reviewed by Canada's national advisory group.

"We have now a National Seniors Council advising our new seniors minister. Now, this report that was produced right here in Greater Sudbury will be brought forward to the National Seniors Council and also will be brought forward to the new minister of seniors," said Serré.

The panel will take feedback gathered on Thursday to form recommendations that will then be brought to city council.
