It is one week until the October 22nd municipal elections across Ontario and many people in northern Ontario are taking advantage of advance voting.

Online voting in Timmins began October 1st and close to 4,100 people have already voted.

Officials there say that the number is up significantly from the last municipal election four years ago.

In North Bay, just over 3,000 voters have cast their ballots in advance polling since October 3rd.

Advance polling has been open in Sault Ste. Marie for three days, and so far, just over 2,500 people have voted.

Online advance voting got underway Monday, October 15th in the City of Greater Sudbury with just over 2,900 votes cast on the first day.
