SUDBURY -- A northern Ontario man is back safely at home after quite the ordeal over the weekend.

Ontario Provincial Police say a 61-year-old man who was reported missing has been found in good health in the White River area, north of Wawa, after spending almost two days in the bush.

Police were called around midnight on Saturday after last being seen around 1:30 p.m. May 15.

Authorities say his pickup truck was found about 11 km east of Highway 631 on the 500 Road along with a single set of footprints leading to the surrounding forest.

The canine unit, emergency response team, and aviation services found him at approximately 10:10 a.m. on May 17.

Const. Trevor Tremblay tells CTV News that the man had gone into the bush for work purposes and somehow got turned around.

"We have no reason to believe he was planning or prepared to be outside for that long," said Const. Tremblay.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution and subsequently released.
