SUDBURY -- A man from Little Current is doing his part to keep people in the north fed and for 15 years Rodney 'Barney' Deforge has run the Homeland Mission.

The non-profit trucks hundreds of thousands of pounds of food from Toronto to Manitoulin Island every year.

During these unprecedented times, Deforge says people need this service more than ever.

He also runs Barney’s Bargain Barn, a discount shop located in Little Current that helps pay for the operational costs of Homeland Mission charity.

We talk to Deforge via Skype on Thursday during CTV News at 5. Catch it on TV, live stream here or catch the video replay later.
