SUDBURY -- A man in his 70s has tested positive for COVID-19, Public Health Sudbury & Districts said Wednesday afternoon.

The case is the 90th in the health unit's coverage area, which includes Greater Sudbury, Sudbury District, and Manitoulin District. It is the 13th positive case in the area since July 20.

The man has not been travelling, and the source of the infection is unknown, Public Health said.

"Through contact tracing, Public Health will notify all close contacts directly," the health unit said in a news release. "If you are not contacted by Public Health, you are not considered a close contact."

Although permissible for up to 10 people, non-essential in-person gatherings of any size should be limited, Public Health said in the release. Limit contacts and in-person interactions as much as possible, and, with few exceptions, gatherings are currently maxed at 10 people, and unless these people are from the same household or social circle, they are expected to keep two metres apart.

Close contact is permitted within “social circles” and within the same household. A social circle can only include up to 10 people and must always be with the same people. You can only belong to one social circle.
