Man charged with threatening strangers with scissors in North Bay

A 56-year-old man in North Bay has been charged following an incident Oct. 21 in which two people were threatened with an edged weapon.

Police were called to respond to the incidents, the first of which took place in the 200 block of McIntyre Street East.

"The accused began walking down the street and threatened another victim in the area," police said in a news release Friday.

"Officers located the accused in the 300-block of Lakeshore Drive, where he was arrested and charged. The victims and accused are unknown to one another."

The man was searched and police found a pair of scissors.

Charges include assault with a weapon, weapons possession and uttering threats.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
