Ontario Provincial Police in Temiskaming Shores say they arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly pointed guns at officers.

OPP say officers responded to a threat call Thursday night on Whitewood Avenue in New Liskeard.

Around 7 pm they made contact with a man at his residence when he allegedly pointed what looked like multiple firearms at police.

OPP closed down the street and members of the Emergency Response Team and Crime Unit were brought in.

The man surrendered just before 9 pm and was arrested by police.

He is now facing charges of:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Ammunition possession, contrary to prohibition orders
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Uttering threats
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Not complying with probation orders

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Haileybury on Friday.
