SUDBURY -- A 38-year-old man accused of attempted murder after a stabbing in downtown Sudbury on Sunday night remains in custody after a bail hearing Tuesday, courthouse officials confirmed to CTV News on the phone.

Sudbury police responded to an emergency call  just before 8:15 p.m. Oct. 18 at the transit hub on Cedar Street, where a 30-year-old man was in need of medical attention after being stabbed. He was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The accused was found in a wooded area between Brady and St. Raphael Streets by officers shortly after 5 p.m. Monday and arrested.

He has been charged with attempted murder, having a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with release and probation orders.

Sudbury police say a 29-year-old woman was also arrested and charged with obstructing police in connection to the incident. Her name was not provided, but police say she was scheduled to also attend bail court Tuesday. No word if she was released.

Due to a publication ban, police say no further information will be released about this case.

Sunday's stabbing is the second in the downtown core within the last week. Last Wednesday, a 25-year-old man died after being stabbed on Elm Street. The man believed to be responsible for his death was arrested Friday in Toronto and brought back to Sudbury to face charges.
