SUDBURY -- Old man winter is at it again, as a weather system brings a heavy snowfall to much of northeastern Ontario. 

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for much of northeastern Ontario. The communities impacted include: 

  • Chapleau - Gogama
  • Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity 
  • Kirkland Lake - Temiskaming Shores - Temagami
  • North Bay - West Nipissing
  • Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East

Meanwhile Timmins - Cochrane remains under a Special Weather statement. 

According to Environment Canada, anywhere from 15cm to 25cm of snow is expected. Sudbury police are urging caution to any drivers on the road. 

The Ontario Provincial Police are warning motorists of the closure of Highway 17 between Wawa and Sault. Ste. Marie.
