Whooping crane killed on Manitoulin Island
A whooping crane is a rare and endangered species and one of the birds was killed recently on Manitoulin Island.
Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual or suspects responsible.
It’s alleged that on May 5 the bird was shot on private property in the area of N line and 10th Side Road on the north end of Barrie Island.
This crane belonged to a small population of 100 that were raised and released. They are being monitored with telemetry bands.
