Live music every Friday at Sudbury seniors centre
There was music, dancing and toe tapping at a weekly event at the Parkside Older Adult Centre in Sudbury on Friday.
The event is called Live Music Friday and the latest band to perform was the Tremonics, a Sudbury-based band that was playing music from the ‘60s and ‘70s, as well as modern country.
"You just have to take that first step get out of the house, get out of your comfort zone," said Natalie Labbee, the assistant manager at the Parkside Older Adult Centre.
“With the live music after the pandemic, this has been one year in March that we have been able to reintroduce it to the Parkside Centre and it's been growing and gaining every week.”
Officials said many people are still not aware of the in-person events taking place post-pandemic to get people out socializing and living healthy lifestyles.
"We have got so many different activities for people to participate in and just engage,” said Labbee.
“It's just really good for your overall holistic health to be involved and get out of the house.”
Officials said although the centre is membership-based, everyone 50 plus is welcome to attend Live Music Fridays.
Admission to enjoy the entertainment including lunch is $9 or $5 includes coffee and tea.
