SUDBURY -- Amid COVID-19 concerns, events across the country are being cancelled.

CTV News is compiling a list of cancellations from northern Ontario:

  • All court matters scheduled between March 16 and April through Ontario Provincial Offences Courts are adjourned. Defendants will be notified by mail of new court dates in the coming weeks.
  • All Goodlife Fitness clubs across the country closed, member payments suspended as of March 17
  • All publicly-funded schools closed March 14 to April 5
  • All minor hockey cancelled for the season
  • All OHL games
  • All NOJHL practices and games suspended
  • All Cineplex theatres are reducing capacity to allow for social-distancing and enhancing cleaning protocols
  • All weekday and weekend masses in all Catholic Churches within the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie are cancelled until further notice
  • Curling Canada postpones upcoming championships and suspends all domestic sanctioned activities
  • Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) AGM May 13-15
  • United Way Centraide North East Ontario's Community Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Program

GREATER SUDBURY and area

  • All Sudbury Lions Cub events, including charter nights and regional rallies
  • Cambrian College in-person classes suspended March 16 - 20, remote or alternate delivery begins March 23
  • Cambrian Student Innovation Challenge
  • Canada Revenue Agency at Lasalle and Notre Dame is asking non-essential service employees to say home
  • Curl Sudbury closes, events cancelled, and year-end bonspiel postponed until Oct. 2-4. The facility will open Tuesday – Friday from 10am-2pm & 5pm-7pm for members to retrieve their equipment and clean out their lockers and pay their bar tabs.

  • Algoma University in-person classes, labs and tutorials as of March 16 for the remainder of the term
  • City of Sault Ste. Marie suspending large events and public gatherings with potential to draw over 250 people
  • Easter Seals Telethon's live show to be replaced with pre-recorded special
  • Hiawatha Highlands building will be closed, but trails will continue to be groomed
  • Irish Stew Supper at Jocelyn Twp Hall, St. Joseph Island
  • Lake Superior State University (MI) moving to online learning March 16 until at least April 17
