It's the ugly side of winter. Snowbanks begin to look like sandbanks.

These two friends say they an anxious for spring to arrive.

“You can see trees that actually have leaves which i like because I like plants and just right now everything is dead and sad.”

“I feel like it almost went away and now it snowed a lot yesterday. “

With more spring like temperatures on the way, The city of Sudbury says crews are busy clearing drainage outlets.

“We focus our efforts on low lying areas or areas that are known to have issues with ponding so we clear those areas first and work in order of priority.,” said Miranda Edwards of the city of Greater Sudbury.

The city says if residents have concerns about ponding, they should call 311.

“ We will remain vigilant and monitoring all the conditions, we will be continuing our efforts to clear all the drainage outlets and culverts , catch basins, so we will be actively out there working, “ said Edwards

This man says he hopes it's not a quick melt.

“ I am not looking forward to flooding that's for sure, it would be nice if we could get ahead of that but after that i am looking forward to the spring, that's for sure.”

Conservation Sudbury confirms snow depths and water content are well above the normal range for this time of year.

The city is encouraging residents to sign up for Sudbury alerts, an notification system that warns people of potential hazards or concerns that are considered imminent threats to public safety.
