SUDBURY -- Ontario Provincial Police arrested a Kirkland Lake man and seized a large amount of what is suspected to be a highly potent opioid during a recent traffic stop.

The OPP street crime unit pulled over a vehicle on Highway 11 in Englehart, north of Temiskaming Shores, Wednesday and found approximately $36,000 worth of red powder fentanyl during a search of the vehicle.

As a result, a 57-year-old passenger was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order and possession of opioids for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 10 in Temiskaming Shores.
