The recent run of warm weather means lakes in the Greater Sudbury area are not safe for ice fishing.

Deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell told CTV News that they have received calls about people ice fishing.

"With the warmer weather the ice conditions have deteriorated, and no ice is safe," Oshell said in a message.

"Sending water rescue crews to try and convince people to get off the ice isn’t ideal and a draw on resources."

The warm weather is expected to continue until Thursday, when the forecast high is -7, dropping to -13 on Friday.
