She told officials with Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) that her favourite lottery games are instant Crossword and Bingo.
McCombe thought her phone was broken when she scanned the ticket with the OLG app, according to the release.
“I thought, ‘This can’t be real,’ and then screamed from the top of my lungs. I was so excited I ran barefoot to my daughter-in-law’s house to show her,” she said with a laugh, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
“I couldn’t even spare an extra minute to put my shoes on!”
McCombe said “word traveled fast” in her small town and within hours she received many calls congratulating her on her win.
She said she plans to pay bills, share with her son and invest the rest.
The winning ticket was purchased at Pettenuzzo’s Your Independent Grocer on McChesney Avenue in Kirkland Lake.
