SUDBURY -- One man is facing an attempted murder charge and two others face drug and obstruction charges in connection with a June 4 incident in Kirkland Lake.

The crime unit of the Kirkland Lake detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, with the assistance of the forensic identification services unit and the North East Region community street Crime unit, responded to the call on McCamus Avenue in the community after receiving a report of a serious assault.

"One person sustained life threatening injuries and was brought to hospital for treatment," the OPP said in a news release Wednesday. "As a result of the investigation three people have been arrested and charged."

A 26-year-old Kirkland Lake resident has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

He remains in custody pending bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice via video on June 12.

A 51-year-old man, also from Kirkland Lake, has been charged with attempting to obstruct justice and possession of methamphetamine.

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Aug. 27.

A third man, 26, also from Kirkland Lake, is charged with trafficking cocaine, weapons possession and mischief under $5,000.
