Ontario Provincial Police say they have now laid charges in connection to the assault of a 14-year-old male in Kirkland Lake nearly two weeks ago.
Police have charged 33-year-old Troy Lautaoja, of Kirkland Lake, with aggravated assault and attempted murder in this incident.
It happened around 6:15 pm on March 23.
Police arrived at the scene on Hudson Bay Avenue to find the teen with a head injury. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Later that evening, Troy's mother, Brenda Lautaoja, 68, was found dead.
Troy has been accused of second-degree murder in that case.
He remains in custody pending bail.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
