Kindergarten Kindness Ninjas visit Cambrian College students

On Wednesday, JK to Grade 2 students from Larchwood Public School in Dowling visited Cambrian college students to brighten their day during exam time.

The children are Kindness Ninjas who are learning the value of random acts of kindness and what it can do for others.

The students earn their headbands by taking part in activities to learn about the importance and impact of kindness.

"We start with kindness elves that visit us and give us some kindness initiatives," said Natalie Taylor, kindergarten teacher at Larchwood Public School.

“They give us kindness books to read and we talk about it every day how we can be kind. And we do kindness in our school in the community at home.”

Vienna Chevier, a Grade 1 student, described ninjas this way: "To be like a kindness ninja you be nice and you spread kindness around the world and hope that other people get it and then they spread kindness."

The school teamed up with the Cambrian College Wellness Warriors to learn and share how everyone big and small can benefit from kindness.

"Wellness is one of the strategic plans, so we believe it's really important to get our students involved in this initiative as well to teach them different skills to teach them different skills that are going to be applied in the community," said Kristi Haddad, of the Cambrian College Wellness Warriors.

The Larchwood Public School Kindness Ninjas have also been learning about being kind to animals.

The students pick their own random acts of kindness and are planning to help a local animal shelter this spring.
