Job fair in Timmins attracts hundreds of employment seekers
About 50 employers in Timmins looked to connect with potential employees Thursday at an annual job fair hosted by the Far Northeast Training Board.
"It seems that the workforce right now is even worse than it was so the gap is even bigger than just people retiring," said Josee Gosselin, an administrative assistant with the Far Northeast Training Board.

The Timmins Police Service was one of the participating organizations in search of more recruits.
"Women for me is a big a big push and to be reflective of the community that we serve," said Chief Sydney Lecky.
"So, you know, there's not a lot of Indigenous reflection in the Timmins police service and that's something I'd really like to change … you have an Indigenous police chief now and we're looking forward to welcoming you into the police service."

As Ontario Northland gets ready to roll out the new Northlander passenger rail service in spring 2026, officials said they’re actively looking for new workers.
"We also have a major shop expansion at our satellite office in Englehart so we're looking for tradespeople right now as we speak," said Steven Loranger, director of transportation with Ontario Northland.
For anyone who missed the job fair, organizers suggest visiting an employment office in Timmins. People can get help with their resumes and learn about the many jobs that are available in the area.
