SUDBURY -- A 43-year-old from Iroquois Falls is facing charges, including the illegal importation of a firearm, after police seized a stun gun and pepper spray.

Acting on a search warrant, the South Porcupine Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police arrested the man Dec. 1, along with members of the North East Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the OPP Community Street Crime Unit.

"As a result of the investigation, the OPP seized prohibited weapons including a conductive energy weapon and pepper spray," police said in a news release Friday.

The man is charged with importing a restricted firearm, firearms possession, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 28 in Timmins.
