Firefighters in Iroquois Falls, just east of Timmins, were kept busy over the weekend after a large fire broke out at the former Resolute paper mill in the town's east end.

Fire crews fought a large warehouse blaze for several hours Saturday night before finally extinguishing the flames in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency crews say the fire was isolated to a large debris pile within one of the concrete walled warehouses.

Dan Boucher is the Fire Chief at Iroquois Falls Fire Department.

"There’s no Fire Marshall's investigation because it was only demolition debris. There's really no fire loss, there was no damage to the building. We're still investigating to see if we can find the cause and origin because there was nobody on the property at the time." said Boucher.

The former paper mill is home to several new ventures in the community, including a food distribution operation for local farmers.

Tenants have already been allowed back in to the area.
