International students from China are visiting North Bay for the next three weeks to learn some English and to learn about Canadian culture.

They'll be attending a summer culture camp at Canadore College.

More than 30 high school and college students from china have arrived in Canada after a long trip, but they’re not experiencing any jet lag.

Madison Mancini is a summer culture camp councillor.

"Share what I know about Canada, and what I know about North Bay, and all the passion that we have here. And then, also have them sharing stuff with us from their cultures and their schools and what they like to do also." said Mancini.

The students, along with some faculty, have come from four different high schools and colleges in China.

For some visiting students, like Yunying Li, coming to a new place amazes him and he's excited to learn more about our nation.

"The weather here is very warm, I like it very much." said Li.

They're here to learn English and to discover a number of lifestyle activities, cultural events, and tourist attractions.

For Li, his dream about studying abroad is finally a reality.

"Going abroad is a dream of mine, so coming to Canada means my dream has come true, so I'm very excited." said Li.

Canadore College has actively recruited students from different countries around the world and has a long-standing partnership with China. This summer camp has gone on for three years now.

The college once welcomed 150 international summer students in full-time post-secondary programs, which had a significant impact on the local economy.

"Expectation wise? I honestly just hope they have fun and even if they take away just one thing, I think our job will be done." said Mancini.

In the coming weeks, the students will meet North Bay Mayor Al McDonald and will tour some of Northern Ontario's attractions.
