Impaired driving charges follow second crash on Hwy. 11 on Friday
A 37-year-old North Bay resident is facing multiple charges – including impaired driving – following a collision on Highway 11 on Friday.

“North Bay OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) responded to a collision on Highway 11 (in) Callander involving an automobile and a tractor-trailer unit,” said police in a social media post.
“The driver of the automobile who received minor injuries was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.”
The highway was closed for “a couple of hours” while police investigated the crash.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the automobile is facing two impaired driving offences along with a charge of careless driving.

In addition to the charges, the accused also had their license suspended for 90 days and the vehicle involved was impounded by police for seven days. The 37-year-old is also scheduled to appear in court in North Bay at a later date to answer to the charges.
“Drive sober, get home safe,” said police.
“The OPP remind motorists to report impaired drivers. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911.”

There was another crash on Highway 11 near Callander, Ont., involving a tow truck, an OPP cruiser and a tractor-trailer earlier that morning and there have been several impaired driving incidents in northeastern Ontario this summer.
