Impaired driving charges follow crash Friday morning in Sudbury

A 38-year-old Sudbury woman has been charged with driving while impaired by drugs after a collision on Big Nickel Mine Road on Friday morning.
Police responded to the crash just before 7:30 a.m.
“Information provided was that prior to the collision, a vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner,” Sudbury police said in a news release Friday.
“The vehicle then sideswiped another vehicle before leaving the road and striking the guardrail.”
Officers arrived and located the driver of the other vehicle, who had sustained minor injuries because of the collision.
“Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle responsible for the collision, officers detected signs of impairment,” police said.

The driver failed a standard field sobriety test and she was arrested.
“She was transported to police headquarters where a drug recognition expert completed an evaluation and confirmed that she was impaired by drugs,” the release said.
“She was released on an appearance notice with a court date of Aug. 21.”
