SUDBURY -- A 39-year-old man from Port Perry, Ont., is facing impaired driving and other charges, the Sudbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police said Friday.

Police received a complaint about a possible impaired driver around 10:20 p.m. on July 30 travelling east on Highway 17 in the area of St. Pothier Road.

"Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Highway 17 at Long Lake Road, Sudbury," police said in a news release.

"Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had been consuming alcohol and was subsequently arrested."

The 39-year-old is charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle and failure to comply with a demand.

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 23 in Sudbury.

He was also issued a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The charge marks the 37the driver charged with impaired driving in the Nipissing West detachment area in 2020.
