A popular winter activity in Sudbury has become a little more interesting just in time for the Family Day long weekend.

People who use the Ramsey lake skating path will notice new structures added along the way.

It’s all part of an annual program involving the McEwen School of Architecture.  Ice stations have been designed by first year students for the community’s enjoyment.

Thomas Strickland is a professor at the school.

“We want the students to learn about architecture through a hands-on process and so we actually have them design and build little pavilions, you can call them. But what they really are, we call them ice stations but they're just areas people can use when they’re out on the Ramsey Lake skating path to sit, relax, put on their skates.” says Strickland.

Over 50 students and professors were involved in creating the five ice stations this year.
