Hydro pole replacement causes power outage in Greater Sudbury
More than 1,100 people in the Greater Sudbury area are without power Sunday due to hydro pole replacements.
A planned power outage in Baileys Corner Oct. 27 is affecting customers in Garson and Skead according to the Hydro One outage map.
Dip poles at the Baileys Corner distribution station are being replaced and Greater Sudbury Utilities (GSU) said about 280 Sudbury Hydro customers in Falconbridge would also be affected.
The outage was scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., GSU said, but the Hydro One outage map lists restoration time as 4 p.m.
"Greater Sudbury Hydro has contacted all affected residential customers through automated phone calls to notify them of the upcoming power interruptions," a news release said.
"We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding."
Hydro One said 656 customers in Garson are affected as well as 478 customers from Baileys Corner to Skead.
Two other planned outages are taking place in Greater Sudbury on Sunday.
A four-hour outage from 8 a.m. to noon affected about 21 customers in the area of Anthony Street and Regent Street in the Hospital area of town.
Another 15 customers in the South End area were expected to be without power on Green Avenue between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
