Hwy. 11 motorist charged with stunt driving was impaired, police say

A motorist travelling more than 60 km/h over speed limit on Highway 11 has also been charged with impaired driving.

North Bay Ontario Provincial Police stopped the grey sedan Aug. 31 around 6:30 p.m.

"After further investigation, it was also determined that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages and was subsequently arrested," the OPP said in a news release Wednesday.

The 50-year-old from Mississauga is charged with stunt driving, impaired driving and driving with alcohol readily available to the driver.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on Sept. 17. The vehicle has been impounded for 14 days and the suspect's driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days.
