SUDBURY -- Ontario's Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate a "suspicious" early morning fire in the Greater Sudbury community of Blezzard Valley, officials say.

Firefighters received the call around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and crews from the Valley East and New Sudbury stations put out the blaze.

At the height of the fire, 20 firefighters were on scene battling the flames.

Deputy Fire Chief Jesse Oshell says the home is a complete loss and the damage is estimated at approximately $250,000 to $300,000.

"Our crews were quick to respond from our three Val Caron, Val Therese and Hanmer stations and arrived on scene to the house that was full of smoke and fire at that time so our crews have been here since working diligently to put the fire out to be safe, it is a loss this particular building so it is quite dangerous right now," said Oshell.

Crews are still on scene to watch for hot spots.

No one was home at the time of fire and no word yet on the cause of the fire.

No injuries have been reported.

Correction:

Fire officials report that the fire on Menard Street is in Val Caron, but the road is actually part of the Blezzard Valley community.
