NORTH BAY -- A combination of high winds and the shifting of lake water has pushed blocks of ice along the Lake Nipissing shoreline in North Bay.

This spring shoreline build-up phenomenon is sometimes called "ice tsunamis" or "ice shove."

The North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority says the changes in weather push rotting ice onto the shoreline, over docks and onto waterfront properties.

The conservation authority says Monday night's 60 km/h winds played a key role in the movement of the ice.

Staff from the conservation authority will be out along the waterfront on Tuesday monitoring the situation.
