Heat warnings issued across northeastern Ont.
With the mercury rising, Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for communities across northeastern Ontario.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 30 C on Thursday and Friday in many communities, reaching all the way to 32 in Timmins tomorrow.
“A heat event is expected to begin today and continue through Friday,” Environment Canada said in the warning.
“A hot and humid air mass is expected to arrive today. Maximum daytime temperatures of 29 to 31 degrees C are expected, with humidex values 36 to 38. Overnight minimum temperatures will be 17 to 19.”

However, a cooler air mass may arrive by Friday night, with temperatures dropping sometime on the weekend.
“Extreme heat can affect everyone’s health,” the warning said.
“The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues.”
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
