SUDBURY -- Health officials in the Timmins area are warning of three separate incidents of potential public exposure to COVID-19, an infectious disease caused by the newly discovered coronavirus.

According to the Porcupine Health Unit, the first centers on a recent flight into the city that officials are quantifying as a potential ‘high-risk’ exposure to the virus. Anyone who was on a Thunder Air flight from Timmins to Attawapiskat on Mon. Nov. 23 must immediately self-isolate and contact the local health unit.

The health unit is also warning of what its calling two, separate ‘low-risk’ exposures to COVID-19.

Anyone who was dining at the Timmins East Side Mario’s location on Fri. Nov. 20 at approximately 8 p.m. is asked to monitor their symptoms for 14 days from then, which ends on Fri. Dec. 4.

There is also risk of exposure to anyone dining at Siva’s Family Restaurant in Timmins on Sun. Nov. 22 at approximately 6 p.m. Anyone who meets those criteria is also asked to monitor their symptoms for two weeks from the date of dining, which would end on Sun. Dec. 6.
