Nickel Belt MPP and health critic France Gélinas advised on Thursday that the LifeLabs location in the Greater Sudbury community of Azilda will be closed for at least a month.

“I was just notified by LifeLabs that they will be closing the Azilda location for the next 30 days or longer to repair damages due to a collision at the site,” Gélinas said in a Facebook post.

“Patients are encouraged to attend the Val Caron location or another LifeLabs location in Greater Sudbury for the time being.”

CTV News has reached out to France Gélinas for further comment and is awaiting a response.

On Sunday, CTV News attended the Azilda location to find the damage boarded up.

“Azilda LifeLabs will be closed until further notice. We have other LifeLabs locations,” said a notice on the door.

This indicates that the locations on Larch Street, Lasalle Boulevard, Long Lake Road and in Val Caron will continue to operate.

“We apologize for any inconvenience. For more information, please contact our Customer Service Centre at 1-877-849-3637,” said another posted notice.

This closure comes amid a backlog in testing and results across the province.

CTV News has also reached out to both LifeLabs and local police for more information on the incident leading to the site’s closure and the impact on the community but responses have yet to be received.
