SUDBURY -- A driver who was clocked going well over the speed limit was disappointed to find out that police didn't think her new car justified the high speeds.

Sudbury police say a traffic officer stopped a G2 licensed driver going 151 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Officers say the girl tried quite the unique excuse.

"This is a new car and I wanted to see what it could do, so I figured this was the safest place to do it," was the response given, according to the officer.

That did not end up working in her favour.

As a result of the incident, she is facing two charges of stunt driving and upon conviction will lose her license for 30 days and face fines up to $10,000.
