SUDBURY -- Friends continue to mourn for a teenage victim, who was killed last week in downtown Sudbury.

Last Friday, 17-year-old Preston Pellerin died in hospital after being stabbed on Cedar Street.

Now, 18-year-old Steffin Rees is facing a murder charge in connection to the incident.

TJ Morrison was a good friend of the victim and says Pellerin was more like a little brother to him.

"He was outgoing, loved being at Tim Hortons downtown with all the elderly that go there in the morning just to have coffee. He’d do anything for people that absolutely needed it, like making jokes or try to make you smile. He had a heart of gold, a major heart of gold, and he’s affected a lot of people in this town," said Morrison.

Morrison says he was shocked when he heard the news on Friday afternoon.

"Once I heard this, I was like 'why would someone want to take an innocent life?' He hasn’t even lived his life yet. He’s 17-years-old. He was trying to get his act together. Like, I was loss for words. What happened to him on Friday was an absolute disgrace," said Morrison.

Friends of Preston Pellerin held a memorial this past Saturday after the Santa Claus Parade, but are planning a second one on Nov. 27 from 6 till 9 p.m.
