SUDBURY -- Two men and two women from Sault Ste. Marie are facing several charges after Ontario Provincial Police on Manitoulin Island responded to a traffic complaint Sept. 6 at a business located at 329 Highway 17 in Baldwin Township.

"Police located the vehicle involved and conducted an investigation," police said in a news release Wednesday. "The investigation led to police seizing drugs suspected to be purple heroin, methamphetamine, fentanyl (estimated street value over $150) and prohibited weapons (baton and bear spray). The vehicle was seized and impounded."

A 28-year-old man from Sault Ste Marie is charged with failing to comply with a release order. He appeared in bail court in Sudbury on Sept. 8 and remains in custody.

A 34-year-old woman, also from the Sault, is charged with one count each of heroin, methamphetamine and opioid possession.

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 30 in Espanola.

A 28-year-old from the Sault is charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 30 in Espanola.

A 32-year-old Sault woman is charged with heroin possession. She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 30 in Espanola.
