Former NHL tough guy Troy Crowder will be acclaimed by the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party as its candidate for Sudbury in the next provincial election.
In a media release issued on Tuesday, the PC’s said Crowder will be acclaimed at a nomination meeting on Thursday.
“For far too long Sudbury and the North has been ignored by the Wynne Liberals. They always find a way to leave the hardworking northern families paying more and getting less,” said Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown.
“Troy is a fighter and I know he will be a strong voice for Sudbury families and taxpayers.”
Crowder was born in Sudbury and played 150 games in the NHL.
The nomination meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. The PC’s said it is an invitation only event.
