Former mayor gets Order of Canada

The longest-serving elected official in the country was awarded with the Order of Canada Thursday morning in Ottawa.
Austin Hunt received his medal from governor general Julie Payette at Rideau hall... Hunt served as mayor of Billings Township, on Manitoulin Island, for over five decades. He entered politics as a campaign manager and agent for former prime minister, Lester B. Pearson. Hunt retired from municipal politics after 65 years in 2018.
