Flood warnings issued areas in Sudbury, North Bay districts
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has issued flood warnings for areas in the Sudbury and North Bay districts as steady rain moves into the area this weekend.
The flood warning covers residents in the Municipality of French River, where there is potential for flooding in low-lying areas and flood-prone location.
“Residents may wish to take necessary action to secure or protect property in flood-prone or vulnerable areas,” the ministry said.
“Water levels in the Sturgeon, Nipissing, French rivers system remaining elevated after receiving higher than seasonally average precipitation over the month of April. In response to high levels on Lake Nipissing, additional flows are being passed out of the lake into French River to mitigate impacts across the system.”
Over the next five days, accumulated rainfall in the northeastern region is forecast to range between 20 mm and 50 mm.
The warning is in effect until May 3.
