First Trout Creek Agriculture Fair highlights local farming opportunities

The first annual Trout Creek Agriculture Fair happened this weekend with the goal of educating people about farming opportunities in the north.

"I hope people take away that there is the ability to farm and that there is (sic) lots of farmers up here," said event organizer Lianne Moore.

"So, they can buy local and they can support local up here because we do have everything."

Organizers told CTV News farming is growing in this region, but there is room for more growing and farming to happen.

"The diversity of the farms in the area is amazing," Moore said.

"Horses, sheep, cattle, we can grow every kind of crop up here."

"Sometimes, you have to be careful up here and have to know which types of crops to grow. We want people up here to know that there is the area to do it and the ability to do it."
